Woxsen Students Develop Animal Crossing Alert System for Road Safety

Jun 01, 2026

As part of their Societal Internship Project (SIP), Harini Desharaj (B.Tech AI & ML, Batch of 2029), along with teammates Meghana Jaiswal, Nayan Mittal, and Pawani Dwivedi, developed a prototype for a Laser-Based Animal Crossing Alert System for Road Safety—an initiative aimed at reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions through real-time detection and driver alert mechanisms.

Built using embedded systems concepts and sensor-based monitoring, the project explored how affordable, technology-driven solutions can contribute to safer roads and sustainable infrastructure. Their work also earned recognition beyond the classroom, advancing through the first round of the Youth Speak Ideathon 2026, organized in collaboration with AIESEC at IIIT Hyderabad.

From field research and hardware integration to presentations and iterative problem-solving, the project reflects the hands-on learning, innovation, and social impact mindset fostered at Woxsen University.
