From Studio to Site – An Architecture Field Study Experience

Mar 29, 2026

As part of their Architectural Design Studio brief, our first-year architecture students undertook a field-based case study to explore how multiple functions can be integrated within a single space. The exercise challenges them to design a residence, an architecture studio, and a pottery workshop—encouraging a deeper understanding of the relationship between living, working, and craft.
Students visited 23 Degree Design Shift and RB Design Studio to observe professional environments, gaining insights into workflows, spatial planning, and the realities of architectural practice.
The experience was complemented by a visit to the pottery workshop Claysutra, where students engaged with material, process, and making—offering valuable perspectives on designing spaces that support hands-on creative work.
