Dr. Ram Soorat Advances Quantum Communication Research Through Chiral-Plasmon-Enhanced Technology

Nov 03, 2026

Dr. RAM SOORAT, faculty member at the School of Technology, has published a research article in Optik (Elsevier), a Scopus-indexed Q2 journal with an Impact Factor of 3.1.

The article, “Chiral-plasmon-enhanced integrated coherent receivers for LLO CV-QKD using physics-informed digital twins and reinforcement learning”, proposes a chiral-plasmon-enhanced integrated coherent receiver for continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD). The design aims to improve polarization discrimination and reduce noise in quantum communication systems.

The work also brings in physics-informed digital twins and reinforcement learning, so the system can adapt to environmental variations and optimize its performance. Numerical results show an improvement in secret-key rate and an extension of the simulated secure transmission distance from 42 km to 63 km.
