B.Des Foundation Students Showcase Design History Through “Souvenir from Past” Exhibition at Woxsen University

Oct 01, 2026

How does history influence the designs we see and use today?

The B.Des Foundation 2026 students explored this question through their History of Design module and brought their learning to life through "Souvenir from Past," an exhibition held at Woxsen University on 29 September 2026.

Over the course of just 10 days, students travelled through different periods of design history, from prehistory and ancient civilisations to the medieval and modern eras. Their exploration included researching historical artefacts and cultures, documenting observations through visual journals, and transforming their findings into A3 studies, prototypes, and small-scale design products.

The exhibition offered a glimpse into their journey of research, observation, experimentation, and making, and it was rewarding to see how historical references were interpreted through their own creative perspectives.

A sincere appreciation to all the students for their curiosity, patience, commitment, and consistent effort throughout the module.

Perhaps the most meaningful takeaway from this module is simple: the past is not separate from the present. It continues to influence the objects around us, the forms we create, the ideas we recognise, and the way design evolves.
