Woxsen University recently hosted a 2-day seminar and joint workshop on "Precinct-Level Accessibility Audit Using Spatial Audit Checklist and Simulation-Based Techniques (Phase-1)" in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur. This initiative was part of the Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design's capacity-building efforts.
The workshop, organized by Prof. Sonia Gupta and Ar. Sai Puneeth Damarla from Woxsen University, featured insightful sessions led by Dr. Gaurab Das Mahapatra and Dr. Haimanti Banerji from IIT Kharagpur. Topics included universal design principles, inclusive pedestrian areas, and accessibility auditing techniques.
Participants gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience, particularly through a campus audit, enhancing their ability to contribute to more inclusive urban spaces. The workshop underscored the critical role of accessibility in urban planning and design.
