When Spaces Become Stories
As part of our upcoming design studios — Transient Pop-Up Spaces (Semester 3) and Adaptive Reuse (Semester 5) — we embarked on an industrial visit to Udaipur and Jaipur (20th–25th August 2025).
This journey went beyond sightseeing; it was about experiencing spaces and understanding the psychology of their use. From the lakeside cityscape and intricately detailed City Palace of Udaipur to the vibrant crafts of Shilpagram, the heritage havelis, and Jaipur’s marvels like Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar, each stop turned into a story waiting to be understood. Alongside, we explored the flavors of Rajasthan, where food too became a part of the cultural story.
We also had the chance to experience Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur Rugs, and other contemporary spaces that beautifully balance innovation with tradition — offering our students a glimpse of how design can honor heritage while embracing the future.
