About ADoBE’24

About ADoBE’24

Theme - "CITIES Embracing Inclusivity"

A city is a meeting of multiple identities that include but are not confined to social, economic, cultural, political, religious, physical, biological, experiential and sentimental layers. Planners and architects along with politicians and authorities have time and again gone about deciding the fate of its citizens through careful planning and thoughtful execution. More often, citizens have, chalked their own destinies, written their own civic orchestra in tunes of surprising harmony fused with peaks of jarring cacophony. Through ADoBE‘24, Woxsen School of Architecture and Planning hopes to bring together variegated and differential opinion on inclusive urbanism in order that ideas and course of action may be generated for a truly dynamic city of the future.

Subthemes

  • Design for Inclusion: This subtheme aims to explore the potential of involving multi stakeholders for the integration of divergent design principles, with the aim of creating meaningful urban spaces. It will thus focus on methods and practices for promoting design solutions that considern eeds and preferences of all groups of citizens.
  • Dynamic Urbanism: The awareness of acknowledging cities as evolving systems of growth will highlight this session so that changing socio-economic environmental and political conditions can be readily adapted to, in the design of cities.
  • Equity in Built & Urban Conservation: This will address a just and equitable access for all social groups in an urban setting, to decisions and actions taken towards urban conservation endeavours. It will include preservation and revitalization of structures, neighbourhoods and places imbibing inherent tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
  • Mobility for All: The options for creating viable and sustainable transportation systems within cities will form the crux of this session. Consequently, the significance of designing and implementing efficient mobility solutions catering to diverse abilities of individuals will be highlighted.
  • Resilient Built Form & Infrastructure: The challenges posed by climate change and natural disasters within the fabric of a city will be at the core of this subtheme. It will emphasize the integration of resilient design principles for buildings and infrastructure to optimise strategies for creating flexible and resilient cities.
  • Participatory Governance & Equitable Development: : This emphasizes inclusive decision-making processes in development of the built environment. It recognizes the techniques of involving diverse voices for policymaking and planning initiatives so that benefits and opportunities of macro and micro growth are distributed evenly.
